WMS Lite Process - Receipts

WMS Lite supports several processes. One of these processes is picking and receiving purchase orders. In this document this process is explained.

Before you can get started with the receipt process of WMS Lite, it is important that your company is properly equipped for the receipt process within WMS Lite. On the start page WMS Lite you'll find an overview of the various settings which are important for working with WMS Lite.

The steps in the receipt process can be executed automatically. For this you can use the Auto queue functionality and the WMS receipt service. For proper operation of this functionality, it is important that the services are installed and correctly configured. Also several settings are important for this feature. In document  E-WMS Auto Queue this functionality is explained in detail.

The process for picking and receiving purchase orders consists of the following steps:

  1. Enter purchase order
The purchase order is entered in Exact Globe Next. Entering the purchase order is done in a similar manner as a regular purchase order in Exact Globe Next. Unlike WMS I, WMS Lite does not offer a WMS button in the sales order entry screen and purchase order entry screen, since linking a scanner to orders serves no purpose in WMS Lite. In WMS Lite, orders are always always sent picking to the generic picking queue. After registering the purchase order you have to process the purchase order.

  2. Send to scanner
The purchase order can be sent to the hand terminal. This can be done automatically via the Auto queue functionality or manually via the button 'Send to scanner' in the control centre receipt registration. In case of free receipts this step is not applicable.

  3. Register receipt
The orderpickers register the receipts on the hand terminal.

  4. Read from scanner
When the receipt is registered on the hand terminal, the received quantities and serial/batch numbers can be read back. This can be done automatically via the WMS receipt service of manually via the button 'Read from scanner' in the control centre receipt registration.

  5. Validate
The information which is read back has to be validated. This can be done automatically via the WMS receipt service or manually via the button 'Validate' in the control centre receipt registration.

  6. Process
Once validated the information can be processed automatically via the WMS receipt service or manually via the button 'Process' in the control centre receipt registration. Processing results in an increase of stock in Exact Globe Next.

During sending to scanner, reading from scanner, validating and processing a (bar code) label can be generated automatically.
